  • About Susan Paulovich Keaton

Susan Keaton began her career at Argyropoulos & Associates, a boutique law firm in New York City. She dove into practice as a civil litigator, representing clients injured as a result of medical malpractice, construction accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and improperly maintained premises. Susan branched out into her own practice in 2011, assisting other law firms on various aspects of challenging cases. In this capacity, Susan has worked closely with construction experts to develop case theories, and has deposed many doctors regarding her clients’ workers compensation claims. She has been lead researcher and drafter on hundreds of cases since her admission to practice.

One of Susan’s favorite aspects of civil litigation has been appellate practice. Susan argued her first appeal before the 1st Department in Manhattan in 2006 and has continued to draft briefs and argue regularly before the appellate courts in New York City. In Harikidas v. City of New York, 86 A.D.3d 624 (2d Dep’t 2011), Susan successfully convinced the court to overturn a decision, paving the way for future plaintiffs to sustain actions against both the City and the landowner for certain defects under a new sidewalk municipal law. This case has since been cited over 200 times including in the New York Pattern Jury Instructions, which is the model courts use for instructing New York juries.

Susan is delighted to have joined Tremblay & Smith in 2021 and to work with this professional, compassionate team of lawyers and staff. During her free time, Susan enjoys being with her family, working on their farm, and playing and listening to music of many genres.
